Hey 4th Grade "Channel Challengers", come on board our virtual tour with JASON XIV to California's Channel Islands!

Dec. 9: The flight to Santa Barbara went smoothly.  Thank you all for filling out your travel plans and planning your trip online. 

 

Today we took a boat trip across to the Channel Islands today to begin our research.  You will create your resume and character sketch so everyone can get to know you.

 

Dec. 20:  Your next task is to use our JASON XIV website to learn all about your research story.  You are the experts!  Log into the Official JASON website and explore!  Take notes!  Record your findings in your JASON journal and be ready to share what you have learned.  Later on, you will compile your findings into a Microsoft Publisher Newsletter.

February 17, 2003: We are officially registered and confirmed to participate in the JASON Quilt Exchange!  We will create 25 quilt blocks which will be shared with 25 other schools, and we will receive 25 squares in return so we can create our own JASON quilt.

February, 2003:  Students are beginning to write research articles about their topics.  These will be put into a MS Publisher newsletter.

February 18, 2003:  Research Question:  How do elephant seals and California sea lions stay warm?  The blubber mitt activity.  See photos 

 

March - April, 2003:  Our research teams will be working on designing a quilt square for the quilt exchange project.

April 3, 2003 - Students painted their quilt squares for the JASON Quilt Exchange.    See Photos

April 7 - We received our first two quilt squares!  One was from Poway, California, and the other was from Wichita, Kansas. 

April 8, 2003 - We sent 25 of our quilt squares to other schools in the U.S. and Australia.  Read the letter we sent with each quilt square.

April 21 - Look at our quilt! This quilt is constructed from the duplicate squares our class kept.  We love it!

April 21:  We have received 10 quilt squares we have received so far!
