Story Shootout A shared writing activity inspired by the book, E-Wally and the Quest 2002 |

This was a fun writing lesson written by Judy Shasek, author of E-Wally and the Quest. On a piece of paper divided into four parts, students wrote one sentence about Olla Brac, the evil character in the story. Then they crumpled it up into a ball (yes, students were shocked!) and shot it into a basket. Mrs. Renz randomly tossed the "ball" to another student in class, who unfolded it, read sentence #1, and then wrote sentence #2, telling where Olla Brac was. Again, the paper was crumpled into a ball and shot back into the basket. The paper was tossed to a third student who told why Olla Brac was doing what she was in sentence #2. The very wadded up paper was tossed for the last time back into the basket. The last student who received the story wrote sentence #4 about why she did what she did in sentence #3. The student who wrote sentence #4 was called upon the be the editor of the entire story, and it was his or her job to type it for you to enjoy. Students loved this activity! We hope you enjoy the stories. |
