Using Dance Mats Helps Improve Fitness and Reading Skills |

Students in our class used dance mats to improve fitness and make them ready to read and do math. The project was a huge success! |

Dance Mat Vending 2006 |

| Fourth and fifth grade students at our school don't sell sugary snacks and pop to raise money. Instead, our students manage a dance mat vending station during lunch recess. We "sell" fitness and have the added bonus of improving our eye tracking skills which helps improve reading. The student "vendors" give turns to students, take money, manage the equipment, and keep records for their business. All profits are reinvested into the dance mat business by purchasing more Play Stations, In the Groove game CDs, and dance mats. Everyone wins with our business! | |

Bend Winterfest Booth January 2005 Students showed the community what we have been doing with the dance mats at school. Some of our students volunteered to demonstrate the dance mats at the Bend Winterfest. Lots of people were interested and many tried it for themselves. |

Dance Mat Family Night April 2005 We held a night for families to come hear about our dance mat program. Judy Shasek explained how our program works and why it helps students get ready to learn. Students and parents tried out the dance mats. It was a great night. |
