In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Scholastic Books Clubs want to help empower children to be able to make a real contribution. Classrooms Care is a classroom reading program designed to teach children about the joys of reading and giving. For each class that read 100 books by February 17, 2006, Scholastic Book Clubs donated 100 new books to its charity partners. This year's charity partners included First Book, Reach Out and Read, and Save the Children. Each of these organizations gives the books to children in extremely under-resourced schools and communities in the United States, including many who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Our class finished reading 100 books and has helped donate books to children in need. In honor of this magnificent achievement, our class is now in the Scholastic Book Clubs Classrooms Care Hall of Fame! Students in Mrs. Renz's class care! Classrooms Care Hall of Fame |
