Mrs. Renz's 4th Grade Class Redmond, Oregon

at Tom McCall School

December 14, 2006

We held a school-wide Family Body & Mind Night.  We had 7 stations people could go to.  We served healthy strawberry smoothies at one station.  Redmond High School student athletes read stories in the library.   Students and families played fun nutrition games and relay races and exercised together in the gym.  Families also created beaded bookmarks and used the dance mats.  We had a station showing how much sugar is in the foods we eat and at another station, families learned about the importance of iron in our diets and did a science experiment, extracting the iron from Total cereal.

Over 200 people attended our first event so we were thrilled with the turnout.  Our next event will be February 22nd.
