Mrs. Renz's 4th Grade Class Redmond, Oregon

#2 at Tom McCall School

February 26, 2007

We held our second school-wide Family Body & Mind Night.  Everyone received a "Passport to Fitness Adventure"  and collected gold stars at each station for active participation.  We had 10 stations people could go to.  We served low fat string cheese at one station.  Redmond High School student athlete, Cody Johnson, read stories in the library.  Students and families jumped for healthy hearts in the gym and exercised together.  Children also created bookmarks, used the dance mats, and tried their luck at our new station, Guitar Hero.  We had a station showing how much fat is in the foods we eat and at another station, and people sampled Kool Aid sweetened with sugar, Equal, and Splenda then voted for their favorite. About 100 people attended our first event so we were thrilled with the turnout.  Our next event will be April 26th.

Food Science - A Taste Test

Which Kool Aid tastes best?  The one sweetened with sugar, Spelenda, or Equal?

Our findings: People at Tom McCall School prefer their Kool Aid sweetened with real sugar.
