Claude Monet Art Lesson

taught by Guest Art Teacher, Mrs. Reekie

March 22, 2008

Claude Monet was born Nov. 14, 1840 in Paris, France and died Dec. 5, 1926 in Giverny, France. He was a French painter and leader who was considered an "Impressionist."  Impressionists tried to accurately and objectively record visual reality in terms of the effects of light and color.

Mrs. Reekie told us that Monet is probably her favorite artist.  She showed us lots of Monet paintings and artwork and told us all about his life.  We also watched the video, "Linnea in Monet's Garden."  Students then applied knowledge of Monet's style to their own watercolor paintings of water lilies and Monet's bridge.
