Incoming Freshmen Class of 2018 Outside Reser Stadium

 ADRIAN

We went to OSU.  We went to the wave pool.  My structure made it through the holly wood wave and the shake wave it was awesome and cool.  We went to the house they are small rooms.  And we went to the library it is big and we went to a book store, it was big. They have a bowling alley, it is cool and we went to their living room it is big.  And we went to the basketball stage, it is small.  We went to the football stadium, it is big and we went to the capitol it is big and cool.

ALEASHA

I liked going to OSU. It was fun. We got to go to the Tsunami Wave Lab. Next we got to go to the campus. That was fun. We go to see a lot of buildings and bikes all over the place. It was cool! Next we went to Buxton Hall and got to see inside Hillary’s dorm. It was cool and fun! Next we got to go to Memorial Union. There was bowling, ping-pong and a lot of other stuff. It was cool! Next we got to go to the library and there are 1.3 million books in the library. It was fun and cool! Next we go to the Dixon Rec center. We got to see a lot of sporty stuff. They even fix bikes and other stuff. They have an inside track. They also have basketball, rock climbing, swimming and a lot of other stuff that is sporty. It is cool and funk! Next we got to go to McNary Dining. We ate there. Lunch was good. Next we got to go to Reser Stadium. We got to get autographs from the Beaver football team (#90, #13, #8). It was fun and cool! I know what college I am going to! OSU ROCKS!

ANTHONY

When we got to OSU, we saw this huge line of people waiting to get tickets for a football game. When we got out of the bus, we went to the Wave Lab. Then these 2 girls talked to us about tsunamis. They took our class first to test our structures. It was awesome watching the structures fall.

Then we saw the tailback. It was thrilling to meet him and he was very nice to the children. When we were done with that, the class had to go Salem to see the State Capitol. The first thing that I saw was a huge marble building. When we went inside, it was amazing! We walked over 100 stairs. It was hard walking up all those stairs.

BAILEY

When we arrived at the OSU we went to the wave lab.  When we arrived at the wave lab they took our designs and screwed them to the ground and turned on the wave machine.  The back of the wall moved and a wave was created.  And when it hit our shelters they all made it.  Then it made a medium wave and a big wave.  Then the Hollywood wave and that thing was huge.  And only 2 made it.  After that we went to the dorm rooms and saw Hillary’s room.  There not very big, but she had the biggest room.

Next we went to the library.  Did you know that it was 6 stories high and had more than 1.3 million books?  Then we went to the cafeteria and it had so much stuff to eat. They had pizza, sandwiches, spaghetti and other things.  Then after lunch we went and looked at all of the games and equipment.  Then we went and met the Rodgers brothers and some other players from the football team. Then we got on the bus and left.

CHRIS

First, we went to the wave lab and we tested our buildings against the waves. My group didn’t make it but it was cool to see it get ruined. We took a tour of the campus.

COLTON

When my class went to OSU, we had so much fun.  First we went to the Wave Lab, where we tested the structures.  Mine lasted the 10 inch, 20 inch and 30 inch wave.  Then we did the Hollywood wave, my structure did not last that.

Next we went to Buxton Hall, Hillary’s dorm and got to see the lounge and the kitchen.  There were a lot of rooms too.  Later on we walked down the street to MU (Memorial Union) and the library, there were 1.3 million books.  At MU there was a big bowling alley and pool tables.  They even had a Jack in the box and Carl’s Jr.

Not long after that we went to McNary Dining.  I had a chicken wrap.  There where a lot of  food places.  I also got an autograph from some football players.

CONNOR

My tsunami building exploded when the large wave hit it, but on the tsunami wave, I still had one stick standing. The tsunami wave and Hollywood wave were huge!

The campus was very big. We crossed the street a lot, but we had 10 seconds to cross.

In Buxton Hall, they said Hillary had one of the biggest dorms, but it was still small.

The M.U. was really cool! It had a cool hang-out room with pool tables, couches, air hockey and stuff like that.

The library has 1.3 million books—so many that they are on mechanical slides.

The food was really good at McNary Dining and you get a lot of cinnamon twists!

At the Beaver stadium, I saw #90, #8 and #13. They all signed autographs.

CYRENNA

This was the BEST field trip ever!  We went to the tsunami wave lab!  When we were there we tested our structures and mine had 2 floors left!

Next we went on a tour of the campus.  Their campus is huge!  We got to go to their living room!  It was huge!

We also went to “Buxton Hall”, which is where Hillary lives!  We got to see her awesome dorm!  She got the biggest dorm in the building!

After that we went to “Memorial Union”!  That’s where their hangout room is.  It is also where their bookstore is!  In the hangout room they have a bowling alley.

We went to the library and we had to be quiet!  We saw students studying!  It was cool!

Next we had dinner at McNairy Dining.  Their lunch is so good, but expensive!  They had weird pink dipping for cinnamon twists.

Thank you for reading about OSU!

DANI

On October 26, 2009 my class went to OSU. The first thing we did was go to the Tsunami Wave Lab. We tested our tsunami evacuation shelters. The black group’s shelter stayed up for the baby wave, but not for the next wave. Everything came down except the parking lot at the bottom of the structure.

We went to Buxton Hall. That’s were Hillary’s dorm is. She gave a little tour of her dorm. She shares a room with a girl named Kristin. The first thing Hillary showed us the kitchen and the lounge. Then we probably went up 68 stairs until we finally got to her room. Then a lady from OSU took us to the Memorial Union. We looked at a model of OSU. We saw a lot of flags. Then she showed us the bowling alley and the pool tables. Then we walked past the Panda Express, a sandwich shop and Carl’s Jr. She also took us to the library there are 6 floors to the library. One really interesting fact is that there are 1,300,000 books at the library.

We went to lunch after that. I went to the deli. I got a sandwich, a soda and a bag of chips.

The class went to Dixon Rec Center and we got a tour. The gym is probably as big as our whole school! Oh, and we walked to Reser Stadium. We ran into 3 football players--#90, #13 and James Rogers, #8. I got them to sign my brother’s football for Christmas.

That was the best field trip EVER!

DESSY

I loved Oregon State University.  I’m looking forward to going there when I get out of high school.  The Wave Lab was awesome!  My group’s structure fell on the third wave.  The Buxton Hall dorm room was beautiful.  Hillary sure can decorate.  I want to be a beaver I can’t wait!  After lunch I got a headache.  I felt horrible for awhile.  When we got to the sport section my headache cleared up.  The O.S.U. equipment selection is huge.  We met a person named James.  He took us into a racket ball room.  It has a loud echo and it is hollow.  After that we saw the first swimming pool.  It was huge.

We went to the State Capitol building.  For a minute I stared at a Sacajawea painting then went to the man who was named after our school, Tom McCall.  I shall never forget this day.  The day I decided to go to O.S.U.

ERIC

Finally we got to OSU.  The tsunami wave lab was the fate to many of our structures.  Our table group structure survived the holly wood wave coming in but coming out it took off a side wall.

Next up was Hillary’s college dorm room.  It was pink, orange, green and blue.  My favorite part was her “duck whacker” which was a wood midget with engraved letters, “duck whacker”.  It had a lounge, a kitchen, etc, etc….

At memorial Union or M.U. we went to probably a five hundred million to one model.  After that we saw a Carl’s Jr., Panda Express and other fast food restaurants.  But we were eating at another dining hall.  Not long after that we saw the book store where we didn’t get to shop.

Later on we went to the library where there were 1.3 million books.  After book shelves that opened up by the press of a button, an extravagant piece of bull art, and many more books we went to a dining hall.

At McNairy dining hall, I had pizza, a soda, and a very long line.  Then we were off to the capitol.

GRACE

After arriving at the college, we all got into rain ponchos and headed to the Wave Lab.  My shelter crashed on the large wave. After that we walked to Hillary’s dorm.  It was really cool and they had a hammer that said “Duck Smacker”.

Not long after that we went to the very regal MU.  It had a bowling alley, funky roof and a hall FULL of flags.

Then we went to the library that had 1 million books and a coffee shop.

Finally we went to lunch and there were SUPER long lines.  I ate a slice of pizza, cinnamon twists and a mountain dew.  That evening we went to the rec. center, it had courts for everything!  There was also an indoor swimming pool and track.

Next and last we looked at Reser Stadium and got signatures by 5 football players.  OSU was really cool.

HAILEY G.

The first thing we did on our trip to OSU was go to the Tsunami Wave Lab. We tested our buildings. Most of our buildings were taken out on the Hollywood Wave, but we still had our building.

The next thing we did was tour the campus. My favorite part of the tour was the sports that you can do. I learned that you can study when you want to and sleep when you want to. Also, the game center looks fun because there is air hockey and bowling there.

Buxton Hall is really pretty and Hillary’s and her roommate’s room is nice and neat.

HALEY O.

I want to go to OSU when I grow up.  When we went to the tsunami wave lab, my tsunami evacuation shelter fell on the second wave.  We got to go to Hillary’s dorm in the MU and the bookstore.  We passed by Carl’s Jr.

When we went to the library we found out that there are 1.3 million books.  At the bowling alley we got to see a bunch of games.  Then we ate at the food court and I ate a sandwich, pudding, a soda and chips.

JACK

When we went to the wave pool my shelter got knocked down on the long wave and on the Hollywood wave.  It knocked down a lot of the shelters.  One of my favorite parts was seeing the football players.  It was cool to see all of the sports.  You could play things like ping pong and football, baseball or basketball.  And they had so many schools right next to each other.  The dorms were cool and Hillary’s room was pretty big for the dorm.  It was fun getting up at 4:00 am.  The library was really big and it had 1.3 million books.  They had a lot of places to eat and it was cool because they had a little mini mart.  I cannot believe they had a bowling place.

JENNA

The wave lab was so much fun! I remember watching our structures get hit by the small wave and the medium wave and the big wave. When the small wave hit everyone’s structures, they didn’t move. Then when the medium wave hit our structures, the top fell off. Not long after that, only my table group and Bailey’s table group structures were standing. Next the BIG wave hit and ours was the only one standing.

That morning when we got to OSU, we went to the campus. Our whole class went to the library and it was SO AMAZING AND SO BIG! There are 1,300,000 books in the library. We only got to see the first floor, but there are 6 floors. After that we all went to lunch. I sat with my dad and ate pasta. In the end, we went to Hillary’s dorm room. It was small but very pretty and awesome! Then we went to the Dixon Rec Center where basketball, squash, and tennis were. Then we went to the bowling alley, but it was closed.

JESSIE

The trip to OSU was so amazing and so fun!  First we went to the Tsunami wave lab.  My group’s structure wasn’t the most stable, but it stayed up for the first two waves and then it fell.  Two of our other group’s structures survived through all of the waves.

Next we took a campus tour.  We got to go to see Hilary’s (Mrs. Renz’s daughter) dorm room.  It was so cool and we got to see the lounge.  Then we got to see the MU (Memorial Union).  It had everything for example, Panda Express, Carl’s Jr., bowling alley, air hockey, a lounge and a big room with all kinds of flags, it was soooo awesome.

After that we went to the library.  There they had 1.3 million books.  Since there was so many books they had to put the book shelves so close together.  You had to press a button to be able to fit through the shelves.

Then we went to Dixon Rec. center it was awesome.  It had so many athletic things like, a rock climbing gym, racquet ball, basketball, volley ball, a ballroom and squash ball room.  It was soooo cool.

Last but not least, we went to Reser Stadium.  We got to get autographs from football players.  We got number 8, 90 and 13.  It was so fun.  Did you know that they have a giant metal football at the front of the stadium?

JORDI

OSU was cool!  Fist we went to the wave lab and they put our structure in the pool.

I liked all the choices that we had for lunch at the restaurant. The  library was really cool.

JURNEE

I did not go on the field trip, but I want to go to college.  I want to go to Julliard School of Dance.  It is so hard to get in Julliard, it is very large.  I would love to do an audition at Julliard.  I would be so excited to have an audition.  My whole family would be so proud of me.  I think it would be so awesome if I went there.  Julliard is so cool!

LINDSAY

The wave lab, it was a good experience for us to see everything.  We went to a room also the lady talked to us then told us about the wave maker then our tsunami went in the front of it.  The computer turned on.  She told are tsunami was going to be hit with four waves.  A 10 cm., 20 cm., 30 cm., and 60 cm.  Ours last until the big wave.  It was awesome!  Next we went to the OSU campus.  We spot out three famous football players.  We got their autograph.  It was cool.  Buxton hall is a dorm room.  My teacher’s daughter gave us a tour she got one of the biggest rooms, but it was still small.  After that we went to Memorial Union (MU).  They have a bowling alley, pool table and more.  The library has 6 floors.  The book shelves are so close together that they have to have a machine so they can move.  Can you guess how many books are in it?  There are 1.3 million books.  There is a lot.  Meanwhile we went to the food court.  There is pasta, pizza and a lot more too.  I had pizza, it was good!

LOGAN

First we went to the tsunami wave lab.  Are table group built a statue building type thing.  Well, Adrian did.  Trevor, Jordi and I were sick.  So we put them in the big huge tank thing.  Most of them were small except for green and black.  Immediately the baby wave came and we lost one tiny part.  And green and blue group made it all the way up to the Hollywood wave, booyah!

Next Hillary took us to the dorms to see her dorm.  She and her friend got the biggest room there was in the whole building.  She and her friend both got half the room.  There also, at the bottom of the building was a big living room.  Her dorm number was 418.

Thirdly we had lunch.  I got a slice of cheese pizza, cinnamon twists (man, the cinnamon twists were good), mountain dew and some of my mom’s salad.  I had a good lunch.

Then we were walking around and saw two of the football players #90 and #13.  I got their signatures.  Next we walked some more and boom, we saw, James Rodgers!  The running back, but I couldn’t get his signature.  Then I got on the bus and went home.  It was a good day!

MADALINE

I was not there because I was sick. If I was there, I would like to see the Tsunami Wave Lab, the campus, Hillary’s dorm room, the library, the bowling alley, Memorial Union, and the State Capitol too. I hope one day maybe I can go to that college and maybe one of the dorm rooms too. I might be there in 9 years. I want to see the math room or the science room and see the waves hit and make buildings fall down. I want to see the lunch room. I wish I was there to see everything that they saw.

MALIAH

I liked to go to OSU.  It was fun.  The tsunami wave lab was cool and fun to watch the waves and the house pieces fall off and went into the rocks.  I like to take the campus tour and look at all the stuff there.  I liked to look at the library.  That day I also went to the memorial union and to ate at McNairy dining.  I ate at the deli.  I liked to see Hillary’s room.  I really liked it.  I’d  like to go back someday. It was fun to go there and do stuff and see football players, numbers 90, 13, and 8.

TREVOR

My class went to OSU yesterday.  I didn’t go because I was sick, but if I was there I would have loved the tsunami wave lab.

TYSON

I want to go to college.  I do not know a college I want to go to yet.  I think I want to be a teacher or a doctor.  I think I will be both.  When I’m 38 I will stop teaching and then I will be a doctor until I’m 60.

WHITNEY

When we arrived at OSU, we saw the football stadium. But when we got off the bus, we went to the wave lab. The wave I liked was the Hollywood Wave. It was SO BIG! After that, we went to Buxton Hall where Hillary and her roommate live. It was awesome that we got to see their dorm. Next we went to Memorial Union. Memorial Union had a every single flag that there is in the world, I think. Then we got to meet 3 football players. They signed our name tags. It was awesome! Before that, we went and had lunch. There were tons of places to eat at but I decided to eat at the Garden Deli. Then after that we did tons of stuff. Then we traveled to the State Capitol.
