History of Mrs. Renz’s Wise Owl Award

My father, Scott Reekie, donated the Wise Owl you get to take home.  The Wise Owl statue is made of ironwood and was hand carved in Mexico.  My dad got it while he was on a vacation to the Mexican village of Kino, on the Sea of Cortez.  He wanted the Student of the Month to be able to take the owl home and enjoy it for the month.

My dad was educated in Scotland.  The grade school that he attended had a Wise Owl Award that was given for similar qualities.  My dad earned the award once and was very proud.  This award was his idea!

Directions:  Please take good care of the Wise Owl for the time he is at home with you.  Please package him carefully in his bedding and bring him back in his box on the second to the last school day of the month so the new Student of the Month may take him home.  Thanks for being careful with the Wise Owl!        Mrs. Renz J
